Paper vs plastic mailers: what actually changes when you switch
Swapping plastic mailers for paper is one of the simplest sustainability moves a brand can make — but it only works if the new mailer still protects the product.
Plastic poly mailers and bubble envelopes are cheap and light, but most end up in landfill because they are rarely accepted in household recycling. Paper mailers go into the same stream as cardboard boxes, which customers already know how to recycle. The trade-off used to be protection. Our Cloud Mailers and Honeycomb Mailers close that gap by building cushioning into the paper itself — a paper bubble layer in one case, an expanding honeycomb layer in the other. Before switching, check three things: the weight and fragility of the product, whether it needs a gusset for thicker items, and how the mailer will be sealed. A sample run with your actual products is the quickest way to answer all three.
